Rates of Pay:

CR-04: $50,821 to $54,857 (salary currently under review)

CR-05: $55,543 to $60,130 (salary currently under review)

AS-01: $54,878 to $61,379 (salary currently under review)

What will this process be used for?

The intent of this process is to create a pool of candidates to staff similar term and/or permanent (indeterminate) positions at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and Canadian Coast Guard (CCG).

Education:

  • Successful completion of a secondary school diploma; 
    If you completed your education outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards. Please see our degree equivalency page for additional information.

OR

Equivalent experience:
If you have on-the-job learning or other non-conventional training that you believe is equivalent to the secondary school diploma requirement, put it forward for consideration. The manager may accept a combination of education, training and/or experience in a related field as an alternative to the minimum secondary school diploma stated above.

 

Experience:   

(You will be asked on your application to provide details about the below experience)

All positions:  

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Experience providing client service to internal or external clients / or the public, via telephone, in writing or in person;
  • Experience in providing administrative support.**

    ** While not exhaustive, the provision of administrative support services could include: electronic calendar management for others, processing of travel requests, financial processing (invoice, purchase orders, etc.), processing of correspondence, file management, data verification/entry, logistical organization of conferences or videoconferences, preparation of contextual documents for meetings, etc.
    The nature, scope and relevance of experience will determine whether or not this qualification is met.

Asset qualifications

DEPENDING ON THE POSITION BEING STAFFED (CR-05/AS-01), ANY OF THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS MAY ALSO BE DEEMED AS AN ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION.

ONLY CANDIDATES WHO POSSESS THOSE QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONS WITH A PRIORITY ENTITLEMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THAT SPECIFIC VACANCY.

Education:

  • Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution relevant to the position to be filled such as office/business administration, secretarial, or other.

Experience:  

  • Experience drafting minutes of meetings and following up on actions;
  • Experience in coordinating travel arrangements and logistics;
  • Experience providing human resources services and support such as staffing, compensation and/or the application of the collective agreements;
  • Experience using Human Resources Management Information Systesm such as Oracle Peoplesoft;
  • Experience providing financial support services in one (1) or more of the following:
    • Reconciling financial transactions;
    • Verifying and paying invoices;
    • Extracting, reconciling, interpreting and compiling financial information for use by management;
    • Preparing budgets and financial spreadsheets;
    • Creating contracts and/or purchase orders.
  • Experience in providing administrative support in contracting, procurement services or materiel management;
  • Experience in entering and extracting data into/from a database or computer system;
  • Experience developing presentations.
  • Experience in providing administrative support to senior level management;
  • Experience in the manipulation and analysis of data;
